National Families Week 2026 Children’s Art Competition
Terms and Conditions
1. Promoter
The National Families Week Children’s Art Competition (“the Competition”) is organised and run by:

2. Competition Period
Entries open at 9:00am (AEST) on Friday 10 April 2026 and close at 11:59pm (AEST) on Monday 18 May 2026.
Entries received after this time will not be considered.
3. Eligibility
The Competition is open to children and young people under the age of 18 who live in Victoria or Tasmania.
Entries must be submitted by a parent, guardian or primary carer (“Supporting Adult”) on behalf of the child entrant.
By submitting an entry, the Supporting Adult confirms that:
- they have permission for the child to participate
- they agree to these Terms and Conditions
- they consent to communication from the Centre regarding the competition.
The entrant’s age will be determined as of 18 May 2026. One artwork will be accepted per entrant as part of judging.
4. Competition Theme
The theme for the 2026 competition is:
“What makes you feel happy?”
Entrants are invited to create an artwork expressing their ideas, experiences, or feelings about how they experience feeling safe.
5. How to Enter
To enter the Competition:
- Create an original artwork responding to the competition theme.
- Submit the artwork using the online entry form on the Centre’s website.
- Upload the artwork as one of the following file formats:
- JPG
- PNG
- Provide the entrants:
- first name
- age
- location (city or region).
Entrants may also include an optional short written response describing their artwork or what family means to them.
Entries are free.
6. Artwork Requirements
Entries must:
- be the original work of the entrant
- respond to the competition theme
- not contain advertising, logos, or commercial content
- not include offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate material.
Entries must not include:
- personal addresses or phone numbers
- identifiable personal information about others
- copyrighted characters or imagery that the entrant does not have permission to use.
The Centre reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not comply with these guidelines.
6A. Use of Artificial Intelligence
Entries must be created by the child entrant.
Artworks must not be generated wholly or substantially using artificial intelligence (AI) tools or automated image generators.
Digital drawing tools may be used where they function as creative tools controlled by the entrant, but the artwork must reflect the entrant’s own ideas, creativity and effort.
The Centre reserves the right to request confirmation from the Supporting Adult that the artwork is the entrant’s own work.
7. Age Categories
Entries will be judged within three age categories:
- Under 8 years
- 8–12 years
- 13–17 years
8. Judging
Entries will be judged by representatives of the Centre.
Judging will consider:
- creativity
- originality
- interpretation of the theme
- overall artistic expression.
The judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
The Centre reserves the right not to award a prize in a category if entries are deemed unsuitable.
9. Prizes
There are 15 prizes in total.
Five winners will be selected in each age category.
Each winner will receive:
- a $100 Prezzee Voucher
- a certificate of recognition.
Selected artworks may also be printed and displayed as part of exhibitions at events organised by the Centre and its member organisations, and displayed at the Centre’s offices in Market Street, Melbourne.
Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
10. Winner Notification
The Supporting Adult for each winning entrant will be notified by email within one month of the competition closing.
Winners may also be announced on the Centre’s website and social media channels during June 2026.
11. Prize Claim
Prizes will be issued to the Supporting Adult on behalf of the winning entrant.
Unless otherwise arranged, prizes must be claimed by 31 July 2026.
If a prize is not claimed within this period, the Centre may select an alternative winner.
12. Copyright
Entrants retain copyright ownership of their artwork.
By entering the Competition, entrants grant the Centre a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce, publish and display the artwork for purposes including:
- promoting National Families Week
- promoting future competitions
- exhibitions and events
- Centre publications, reports and communications
- the Centre’s website and social media.
This licence does not prevent entrants from using their artwork elsewhere.
13. Moral Rights
The Centre will make reasonable efforts to:
- credit the entrant’s first name and age when the artwork is published or displayed
- ensure the artwork is not altered in a way that harms the entrant’s reputation.
Images of artwork may be resized or cropped for formatting purposes.
13A. Exhibition of Artwork
Selected artworks may be displayed in physical or online exhibitions organised by the Centre.
This may include:
- exhibitions during National Families Week
- displays in public venues or community spaces
- online galleries on the Centre’s website
- inclusion in printed materials, reports or promotional materials.
Where practical, the Centre will credit the entrant’s first name, age and location alongside their artwork.
If the Centre wishes to display original physical artwork, the Supporting Adult will be contacted to arrange consent and delivery.
14. Publicity
By entering the Competition, entrants and their Supporting Adult agree that the Centre may publish:
- the entrant’s first name
- age
- location
- the submitted artwork.
This may occur in promotional materials, media coverage, online publications and social media.
The Centre will not publish a child’s full name or personal contact details.
15. Privacy
The Centre is committed to protecting personal information.
Information collected during the competition will be used solely for:
- administering the competition
- contacting winners
- promoting the competition and National Families Week.
Personal information is handled in accordance with the Centre’s Privacy Policy and applicable Australian privacy laws.
16. Disqualification
The Centre may disqualify any entry that:
- breaches these Terms and Conditions
- is not the entrant’s original work
- contains inappropriate or offensive material
- interferes with the operation of the competition.
17. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Centre is not responsible for any loss, damage, injury or disappointment suffered by entrants as a result of participating in the Competition or accepting a prize.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes any rights under Australian consumer law.
18. Safeguarding and Child Safety
The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare is committed to creating safe environments for children and young people.
As part of this commitment:
- Personal information collected will be limited to what is necessary to administer the competition.
- The Centre will not publish a child’s full name, address, school, or contact details.
- All communication regarding the competition will occur through the Supporting Adult.
- Entries containing personal identifying information may be removed.
The Centre may remove any entry that includes content that may compromise the safety or privacy of a child.
19. Competition Changes
If the Competition cannot run as planned due to circumstances beyond the Centre’s control, the Centre reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Competition.
